Williamsburg Weekend Finale

After lunch we headed to tour the jail.

And then to the court house, this was interesting because I heard words I havn’t heard since middle school- ex. House of Burgess… tell me when the last time you heard that was. Most certainly this was a history refresher!

We then went to see the Governers mansion. I loved this part and there are a million other pictures, but that would take up my picture blog quota for sure, if there is such a thing.


I simply must have this for baby number 2  Isn’t that pretty!

Ladies and Gentlemen this brings us to the end of our fantastic weekend. Saturday night we went to eat and walked around a little at night. It was the perfect weather, we got so lucky to have mid 80’s no humidity days and cool upper 60’s night. We couldn’t have asked for anything better than that!

Williamsburg Weekend

For our 5 year wedding anniversary we took a trip to Williamsburg. It was so nice to get away together and we enjoyed every second of it!

We stayed at this lovely bed and breakfast, The Williamsburg Whitehouse. It was well appointed and had an overall theme of the white house throughout. The breakfast was yummy, and what a beautiful room to eat it in. I wish I had pictures of the breakfast- grilled plums in yogurt with granola, blueberry French toast. Oh yumm

We enjoy bed and breakfasts; we have always found them to be clean and inviting, not cold like a normal hotel room. Plus the great free breakfast!
Because we left at 3 on Friday we arrived in the evening so we headed straight to dinner. Best part is that our accommodations were in walking distance so we never had to move our car… well I take that back, we did take it to dinner on Saturday, simply because we had walked about 20 miles and I could not lift a foot 


If you go to Williamsburg, I highly recommend Berretts for dinner or lunch. It is yummy and reasonably priced, unlike most eateries in the area.
The next morning we were up early and ready to tour! I had wanted to take the tour of the insides of these buildings since I was a wee one, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to do it!

We began at Basset Hall- John D. Rockefellers residence. The tour guide was amazing. Completely blind, yet he could tell you every color, nook and cranny of this house. It was so nice to tour this house with such a well informed tour guide. To get a glimpse into the Rockefeller life is always interesting 


This was their “country” house. He bought it just for his wife!

Everything in the house is in the original state.
After the tour and getting our tickets it was time to eat lunch! We went into a Tavern, for a lukewarm bit of food. It was neat, but I would recommend just bringing a sandwich. Side note- the “chopped steak” sandwich- it’s just a hamburger, not as fancy as it sounds, and probably not worth $25 for just the burger. We didn’t order it b/c they told us this before hand. The sausage and mash, and Carolina bbq is good.


It is neat to think about our forefathers dining in an area like this.

Dine with the Bovine!

In Celebration of all things Cow, we attended Cow Appreciation Day at Chic fil a!

I will have to say we were the least dressed up out of most people there. There were cute cows and man cows dressed head to toe! We did get our dinner for free, yay!

To round out our Fourth weekend we headed to the lake to feed the carp.

We had one more swim before we called it a weekend and headed home 
